This was a very challenging painting for me. It was my very first experience painting my own reflection. The difficulties were immense; I painted this with my broken arm. I struggled to support my heavy cast with my other arm to decrease the pain in my overworked shoulder. I also had cracked ribs, which made the whole process a lot more uncomfortable. I spent bitterly cold winter nights in my college dorm garage, painting in the horrific dim lighting. It was an enduring experience that taught me about the strength of the human spirit.
